The 2012 Jessie Ball duPont Educator Award

Do you know a music educator who is so fantastic, so life changing, so influential, that he/she should be celebrated for his/her contributions to the students of Delaware? Nominate this person for the Delaware Symphony Orchestra’s 2012 Jessie Ball duPont Educator Award!

Jessie Ball duPont was a schoolteacher before she married the Symphony’s founder, Alfred I. duPont, and was catapulted into the world of philanthropy. Her appreciation for education endured throughout her life. The award was created to recognize a music educator in an elementary, middle, high school or college system.

To nominate either yourself or someone who serves Delaware’s students in music education, please complete and return the application form, as well as your personal letter of recommendation for the candidate. Also provide two ADDITIONAL letters of recommendation from persons other than yourself. Finally, include a maximum of five pieces of support materials that further illuminate the candidate’s strengths and demonstrate his/her qualifications. If you have any questions, please contact the DSO education office.

Nominations for The Jessie Ball duPont Educator Award must be received by February 15, 2012.

The winner will be selected by the Delaware Symphony Orchestra Education Committee, a group composed of past and present educators and community members. He/She must be available to attend Educators Night on March 24 to be recognized from the stage, presented with a plaque, and receive a $1,000 honorarium.
