Director of Development

Position Description:  Delaware Symphony Orchestra seeks a Director of Development. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the execution of the development plan
  • Develop a growing base of donors, sponsors and volunteers
  • Cultivate relationships with existing donors, sponsors and volunteers
  • Participate in Product development and programming
  • Develop and manage the development staff and budget

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Previous fundraising experience
  • Knowledge of orchestral music a plus
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge and Tessitura software a plus

Volunteers
Volunteers are welcomed to work in the library, education department, operations department, development department, finance department, marketing and PR office, and to perform general office tasks. To volunteer, please contact Development Associate Brittany Snyder to find out where your help might be most valuable.

Internships
Internships are provided to students in high school and college on a regular basis to focus on their areas of interest within the Delaware Symphony Orchestra and the greater non-profit world. Internships are available in the library, development department, finance department, marketing and PR office, and to help perform general office tasks and special projects.
