Come and hear the Delaware Symphony Orchestra’s fun and educational Explorer Concert Series for the 2011-2012 season! We’ll be at the Grand Opera House and also at the Schwartz Center in Dover again this season. These concerts are school-day, one hour long programs comprising accessible, student-friendly classical favorites that provide an introduction to the orchestra and classical music. Students will have the unforgettable experience of hearing live music performed by a symphony orchestra.
Delaware Symphony Musical Storytelling with Mother Goose Suite and Peter and the Wolf
Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 10am and 12:30pm at the Grand Opera House

Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10am and 12:30pm at the Schwartz Center in Dover.
• Take your students on a journey of character development and storytelling. They’ll be thrilled by the musical tales that are woven and spun by narrator, symphony orchestra, and dancers. Narrator Greg Jukes and dancers from First State Ballet Theatre join the Delaware Symphony in a program featuring Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. This program is created for pre-K through 3rd graders.
• Please plan to take advantage of our cross-curricular lesson guide and listening website in preparing your students for the concert. Listening, movement, and technology lessons will be prepared according to Delaware Art, ELA, Social Studies and Science standards. The Lesson Guide and Listening Webpage will be available online on September 8, 2011.
• Consider having a DSO musicians visit your school ahead of time through our DSO on the GO program. Musical Discovery with an Explorer’s Twist and Create a Character Through Music are both great preparatory programs for this concert.
Take a Journey with Delaware Symphony and Holst’s The Planets

• Take an awe-inspiring journey through space! The Delaware Symphony brings to life the magic of the stars with a spectacular performance featuring high resolution videos and images from NASA set to the music of Gustav Holst’s The Planets. Our Lesson Guide will be designed to introduce the students to the solar system with a whole new perspective. This program is created for 4th-8th graders.
• Please plan to take advantage of our cross-curricular lesson guide and listening website in preparing your students for the concert. Listening, movement, and technology lessons will be prepared according to Delaware Art, ELA, Social Studies and Science standards. The Lesson Guide and Listening Webpage will be available online in February, 2012.

Tickets are $6.00 per student, with one free chaperone per ten students. Additional chaperone tickets are $6 each. A 25% deposit is necessary to reserve seats and payment in full is due the day of the concert. Please send your deposits for BOTH concerts now, because reservations are on a first come, first served basis. We sell out every year, so don't miss this chance!
